SapientNitro Appoints Gary Koepke as Chief Creative Officer, North America



Brand innovator and creative visionary elevated to senior agency leadership position


BOSTON – August 1, 2013 – SapientNitro, part of Sapient (NASDAQ: SAPE), today announced the appointment of Gary Koepke as chief creative officer, North America, effective immediately. In this role, Koepke will provide creative leadership across North America, working with the senior creative team and business leadership to drive SapientNitro’s continued growth as an innovative storyteller for an always-on world.


In this position, Koepke will also serve as a member of the SapientNitro Global Creative Council, a team designed to advance the agency’s focus on helping its clients create storyscapes that are woven into the human experience through various technologies and experiences. Koepke will leverage his creative acumen to further strengthen SapientNitro’s creative talent across user experience, design, advertising, brand strategy, creative technology, and emerging experience.


Since joining SapientNitro in July 2012 as global executive creative director, Koepke has led well-recognized creative work for cleints including Chrysler, Fiat and VISIT FLORIDA, the latter a recent Agency of Record win whose broadcast and digital work is now live in critical tourist source markets across the world.

Koepke’s expertise as a creative visionary and master storyteller has been evident throughout his career. Prior to SapientNitro, Koepke served as chief creative officer of Modernista!, an agency he co-founded in 2000, which was recognized as a top-ten independent agency for the award-winning advertising it produced on behalf of brands such as Hummer, Cadillac, TIAA-CREF, Budweiser, GAP and Project (RED). He also opened Wieden+Kennedy’s New York office in 1999, and served as the agency’s creative director in New York, working on brands such as Coca-Cola, Nike and ESPN. In addition to his acclaimed advertising portfolio, Koepke directed music videos for U2 and David Bowie, and was the founding creative director of Vibe Magazine. His work has been presented at the DNP Gallery in Japan, which has named him one of America’s top designers.
