Sapient Government Services Achieves CMMI Maturity Level 2 Rating

-- Rigorous evaluation validates market-leading delivery methodology --

ARLINGTON, VA – January 27, 2012 — Sapient Government Services, a division of Sapient (NASDAQ: SAPE) and a leading provider of consulting, technology, and marketing services to U.S. government agencies and non-governmental organizations, announced today that it had achieved a Maturity Level 2 rating during its recent Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI®) appraisal.

“This CMMI Level 2 rating is an affirmation of our continued focus on accelerating innovation and delivering the right solutions for our clients,” said Teresa Bozzelli, President of Sapient Government Services. “It underscores the strength of our unique delivery platform, which brings together the responsiveness and efficiency of Agile methodology with the consistency and repeatability of CMMI best practices.”

Sapient Government Services demonstrated Maturity Level 2 compliance with CMMI® for Development (CMMI-DEV) v1.3. The appraisal examined a range of Sapient Government Services’ software development programs, and verified that the standards in place for critical business areas including project management, software development, systems integration, and quality assurance were well-defined, repeatable, and effective.

“For over twenty years, Sapient has been an industry pioneer in results-focused software development that emphasizes on-time, on-budget performance,” said Bill Annibell, Chief Technology Officer of Sapient Government Services. “Through our Agile-derived methodology of discovery, planning, creation, and implementation coupled with the repeatability of CMMI, we are able to ensure consistent, high-quality results for our delivery efforts. Our approach creates a rapid, flexible, scalable delivery framework that features high levels of transparency and stakeholder involvement, with the added discipline and efficiency of processes and tools built on years of industry best practice.”

The independent firm Broadsword Solutions led the appraisal using the Standard CMMI® Appraisal Method for Process Improvement (SCAMPISM) v1.2. Developed by Carnegie Mellon University’s Software Engineering Institute (SEI), CMMI integrates the capability models from government and industry into a single framework for use by organizations pursuing all-encompassing process improvement.
