SapientNitro Bolsters Creative Leadership by Bringing Onboard David R. Mitchell as Vice President, Creative

 

BOSTON and CHICAGO – AUGUST 8, 2011SapientNitro, part of Sapient (NASDAQ: SAPE), today announced that David R. Mitchell has joined as VP, creative in the Chicago office. In this new role, he will oversee creative strategy and work for clients serviced out of Chicago, including Chrysler, Hyatt, and Target Corp.

Mitchell joins SapientNitro from Digitas in Chicago where he was SVP and executive creative director. At Digitas, he led all creative development for a department of more than 40 creatives and account planners. He was also instrumental in pitching and winning new business that helped significantly grow the Digitas business, servicing clients such as Miller Lite, Foster’s, KitchenAid, Walgreens, and more.

Before working at Digitas in Chicago, Mitchell worked in the company’s Boston headquarters as SVP, group creative director. Prior to his tenure of more than a decade at Digitas, Mitchell was a SVP and executive creative director at DDB Chicago and at variety of creative roles at Garfield Linn in Chicago, Lawrence Charles Free & Lawson (now Gotham) and McCann Erickson in New York. Throughout his career, his work has fused traditional and digital advertising, including notable campaigns such as Kraft “Real Women” and MGD “The Craft.” His work has earned awards such as One Show, Cannes Lion, Effie, and Addy.

Joining Mitchell is John Carstens, who is returning to his roots in Chicago’s advertising scene after relocating from SapientNitro’s Los Angeles office.

Carstens, an award-winning creative, has been recognized by The One Show, Cannes, WebAwards, and TBS’ “America’s Funniest Commercials,” among others. Before coming to SapientNitro, Carstens was a SVP, creative director at Leo Burnett in Chicago where he served as the global lead on BlackBerry and worked on Autonomy, Canon Australia, and Nintendo. Throughout his 15-year career, he has also worked in various creative roles with tenures at DDB Chicago, Cramer-Krasselt in Chicago, Merkley Newman Harty in New York, and TBWA/Chiat/Day in Los Angeles.
