Sapient Helps AGL Resources Boost Field Technician Productivity With Performance Management Application

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., September 11, 2006 - Sapient (NASDAQ: SAPE) today announced that it helped AGL Resources (NYSE: ATG), an Atlanta-based energy services company, develop a performance management application for its operating utilities.  The application features an electronic scorecard that allows supervisors to measure all aspects of work being conducted in the field.  With greater insight into employee productivity and talent, AGL Resources is improving the overall efficiency of field personnel and enabling its utilities to complete more work orders in a day.

“Sapient’s understanding of our business drivers and ability to help us improve and execute on our initial vision for the application were key in our decision to partner,” said Brian Maclean, Managing Director, Business Process Improvement for AGL Resources.  “As a result of Sapient’s technical and industry expertise and their commitment to our success, we have created an innovative performance management solution that results in improved operations and, ultimately, better service for our customers.”

With the performance management application, supervisors now have an accurate understanding of the amount of time technicians spend on each work order by tracking start times and order completion times in all areas that field technicians are deployed.  The performance scorecard is also used by the technicians as a tool to self-monitor performance and identify opportunities for improvement.

AGL Resources piloted the application at its Virginia Natural Gas utility and is currently using it to measure field services performance at its Atlanta Gas Light Company and Chattanooga Gas Company utilities.  The company expects to roll the application out to all six of its utilities by the end of 2006 and also plans to expand its use to track distribution work in the near future.  Sapient designed the performance management application so that it can be applied to any business with a field workforce, including cable, phone, water, gas and electric companies.

“Sapient is passionate about helping clients find new ways to innovate their businesses to increase value,” said Rob Milstead, Director at Sapient.  “In an industry where ‘every minute matters,’ AGL Resources has been able to add crucial minutes to each field technician’s work day, respond more efficiently to customers’ needs and continue its commitment to same day, next day service.”
