New Media Age - Star Alliance Appoints Sapient as its Digital Agency

Star Alliance, the global airline alliance, has appointed Sapient as its digital agency. Interactive agency Sapient will be responsible for online creative, campaigns and managing the operation and maintenance of the site. Sapient will also work with advertising agency DDB and media agency MEC on some of the integrated projects. The agency, which competed in a three-way pitch to secure the account, previously worked with Star Alliance in 2006 to redesign its website.


Stefan Hirsch, director of travel and hospitality at Sapient, said, "Online is an important channel for companies in the travel industry, especially in the current economic climate."


By embracing an intelligent online presence further, the Star Alliance network will benefit from understanding the alliance customers better and being able to target the member carriers' offers more effectively," said Hirsch.


Star Alliance was established in 1997 and includes 21 major airlines including Thai Airways International, Air New Zealand and BMI.
