The world of motoring has moved on massively since the first cars took to the roads. However, the way people buy cars has stayed the same since the 19th century.

It was time for a change. We wanted to give people the chance to buy when they were actually thinking about cars - when they see one on the street or hear the hum of an engine.

So we built an iPhone app for AutoTrader, the UK market leader for buying and selling used cars. The app allows people to take a picture of any car and instantly get information about that make and model. They can read reviews, view ads, compares prices, see where cars are located, get directions and call up to arrange a test drive. All from just a photo.

It's the 21st century approach to car buying and people seem to like it - 3 days post launch, the application made it to #1 in the UK free apps chart!

It's also starting to change the way people think about cars. And it's placing AutoTrader at the centre of that transformation.
